The
Eastern Washington men’s basketball team experienced their first game action of
the 2012-13 season. The Eagles picked up an 87-70 decision against Thompson
Rivers University from Kamloops, British Columbia.
“Our guys were just eager to play a game
against someone else,” stated Eagles head coach Jim Hayford, who arrived in
Kamloops just minutes before tip off. “ I thought Thompson Rivers showed
us some stuff tonight. I think they will have a really good season. “
“I
thought we took care of the basketball really well, Hayford continued when
asked about what he liked about his team.” We limited our turnovers. It’s
my second year at Eastern. We are a very young team with a lot of new
guys. I don’t know what to expect.”
The Eagles were lead by Collin Chiverton with 22 points in
20 minutes.
Eastern next takes on the University of British Columbia on
Saturday, September 8th in Vancouver, BC.
